Muddy Water Blues. A Tribute to Muddy Waters
Muddy Water Blues. A Tribute to Muddy Waters
Paul Rodgers has an extraordinary singing career. He is, of course, best known for
his work with Bad Company. And prior to that with Free. But besides his solo work,
in the 80’s he fronted a super group with Jimmy Page called The Firm. He has toured
with Queen, and most recently with Jeff Beck.
This album is pure British white blues, at its best! Playing tribute to the man who
introduced the electric guitar into the Blues, to the man whose song gave the
Rolling Stones their name: Muddy Waters. The tribute consist of covering the Muddy
Waters songs that most influenced the 1960’s British musicians.
The awesomeness of the album resides in the guests guitar players. They are Buddy Guy, Jeff
Beck, Trevor Rabin, Steve Miller, David Gilmour, Gary More (RIP), Slash, Brian May,
Neal Schon and Richie Sambora. To me, the highlight tracks are “Rollin’ Stone”, with
Jeff Beck. “The Hunter”, with Slash (Led Zeppelin introduces lines from this song into
“How Many More Times”, from the first album). And “She Moves Me”, with Gary More.
This album is an A+.
